Production of Bohemian Crystal
Crystal is a silicate glass that contains lead monoxide that adds to special glitter and purity.
In Czech Republic the term crystal applies to items that contain yellow lead no more than 24%.
It is believed that the crystal was accidentally discovered in the XVII century and in the XIX century it became popular all over the Europe.
Czech Republic has become one of the centers of crystal production in Europe. Originally Czech crystal contained large amount of sodium but the received material didn’t have sufficient strength for maximum utilization of finishing techniques which were used earlier for processing the quartz crystal. In the sequel using new different technologies resulted in creation of the one magnificent crystal which perfectly suits for faceting and engraving. Czech crystal has a high coefficient of color scattering which helps it to play with every color of the rainbow and the high index of light refraction.
